Chelsea Manning to be honoured at ICA in London | The guest of honour at this year’s Friends of the Institute of Contemporary Arts Dinner in London will be the American whistleblower, technologist and activist Chelsea Manning. Manning, who will be making her first public appearance in the UK, will take part in a public Q&A beforehand, discussing democracy, data journalism and LGBTQ+ rights. Established last year by ICA director Stefan Kalmár, the Friends’ Dinner is intended to honour public figures whose work ‘align[s] with the historic mission as well as the current work of the Institute’.
Cheryl Young to retire from MacDowell Colony | Cheryl Young, executive director of MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire since 1997, is to retire. Young joined the 111-year-old artists’ colony as its development director in 1988. She will leave her post in early 2019 once a successor has been appointed.
Cleveland Museum of Art launches Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan | The Cleveland Museum of Art has announced its new ‘Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan’, a set of initiatives aiming to boost engagement with historically underrepresented groups in all aspects of its operations. The plan, which is available to read here, addresses both visitors to and employees of the museum, seeking to improve community engagement, staff inclusion training and diversity in the workforce.
