The Victoria and Albert Museum has been collecting Islamic art since the 1850s, and opened the redesigned Jameel Gallery of Islamic Art in July 2006. The Jameel Prize, conceived in the same year, is an international award intended to foster contemporary art and design that draws inspiration from Islamic traditions. This display features the shortlisted artists, and is organised in partnership with Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives.
