The Cantor Art Center revisits photographer Robert Frank’s controversial book The Americans, which he compiled after travelling the United States from 1955–6, through a display of 130 of the artist’s works. Photographs from the book, and others not seen before, form a multifaceted portrait of 1950s American life, probing issues of class, race, religion and culture in the process.
