They ‘are young, they are rich, they are honest and have convinced me that they share my ideals’. Umberto Allemandi announced today that Inna Bazhenova – currently the publisher of The Art Newspaper Russia – will be acquire The Art Newspaper.
Degas painting stolen in Cyprus
A study of a ballerina adjusting her slipper by Edgar Degas, valued at £4.7 million, has been stolen from an elderly man’s home in Limassol. Police have arrested one man in connection with the theft and are seeking two more.
Who should win the Turner Prize?
After last year’s outing to Derry, the Turner Prize is back at Tate Britain. Tris Vonna-Michell, James Richards, Ciara Phillips and Duncan Campbell are in the running for the £25,000 award. Richard Dorment, writing for The Telegraph, plumps for Duncan Campbell, ‘a consummate film maker with ferocious intelligence’.

Tourists and Parisians may soon be able to visit the Louvre, Versailles and the Musée d’Orsay any day they please. The proposal was announced on Wednesday as part of the government’s budget presentation.
No offence: Clacton officials remove Banksy artwork, but would like another one
A new Banksy mural in Clacton was removed by the local council after they received a complaint about it. They hadn’t realised it was a Banksy, but they’ve invited him back: ‘We would obviously welcome an appropriate Banksy original on any of our seafronts’.
