Cecilie Astrup Fredriksen and Kathrine Astrup Fredriksen

Cecilie and Kathrine Astrup Fredriksen are the daughters of one of Norway’s richest men, the billionaire shipping magnate John Fredriksen. In recent years, the sisters – both of whom are heavily involved in the Fredriksen Group business – have built up a significant collection of post-war and contemporary art by artists including Kerry James Marshall, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye and Bruce Nauman. In 2019, they announced a ten-year partnership with the Nasjonalmuseet in Oslo: in honour of their mother, the late art collector Inger Astrup Fredriksen, they have loaned more than 30 works from the Fredriksen Family Collection to the museum and have funded several of its acquisitions, exhibitions and research programs.
