Emilia Yin

The Hong Kong-born gallerist and art dealer Emilia Yin established Make Room in her adoptive city of Los Angeles when she was 25. Over the past seven years the contemporary gallery has won renown both for its exhibitions and events and for its focus on nurturing the talent of young and predominantly Asian, Asian-diasporic and women artists; artists in its roster such as Guimi You and Sun Woo have gone on to exhibit at major global galleries and institutions. In 2023 Make Room tripled its space, moving into a 420 sqm venue in West Hollywood that comprises multiple exhibition rooms as well as outdoor spaces. Yin regularly presents experimental, off-site shows, with the gallery launching ‘In Situ’ this year – a project that will stage exhibitions in unconventional spaces: the first, a group exhibition, took place in a former apartment unit.
