31 | Founder and Director, Pivo, São Paulo, Brazil
Drawing on the models of European kunsthalles and New York artist-run spaces, Fernanda Brenner has established one of São Paulo’s most innovative art platforms as an alternative to the city’s commercial galleries. Opened in 2012 in Oscar Niemeyer’s Copan Building, Pivo is an independent not-for-profit space dedicated to contemporary art, which puts on exhibitions and lectures and hosts artists’ residencies. Brenner curated ‘So Far So Good’ at White Cube in São Paulo (2015), and ‘Neither’ at Mendes Wood DM, Brussels (2017); her writing has appeared in Frieze, ArtReview and the Exhibitionist.
