Janine Burrows’ solo exhibition at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (11 June–23 October) pays tribute to the landscapes of her home county. Working across a mixture of mediums, the West Yorkshire-born artist captures everything from her back garden to the North Yorkshire Coast, from her neighbourhood allotments to the grounds of the sculpture park. Works such as Whitby Rooftops display expressive brushwork, revealing Burrows’ background in printed textiles, while Birds at the Lake shows the artist’s fondness for delicate mark-making. Alongside landscape paintings, the exhibition includes still-life works such as A Brew, Biscuits and A Bunch of Daffodils, which depict intimate moments of tranquillity within the artist’s home.
