34 | Founder, Jessica Silverman Gallery, San Francisco, USA
Jessica Silverman is the founder of the eponymous contemporary art gallery, which concentrates on emerging Californian artists, whatever their age, as well as bringing international artists to the Bay Area audience. That means representing pioneering local figures, such as Tammy Rae Carland, as well as international stars including Judy Chicago and Isaac Julien – and focusing on concepts rather than specialising in specific media. Besides running the gallery, Silverman curates the programme at Fused Space (the exhibition venue attached to the studio of designer Yves Behar) and is a member of the San Francisco Arts Commission.
