Larry Achiampong

Though he works with a variety of media, including photography, live performance and sound, Larry Achiampong is best known for his film-based work, which often combines his own personal experience with shrewd social observation. His film Wayfinder (2022) was released in cinemas across the UK; ruminative and imaginatively shot, it charts a young girl’s journey across England and the landscapes and social inequalities she encounters. Pan African Flags for the Relic Travellers’ Alliance, a reworked version of the London Underground roundel, appeared in eight different versions throughout Westminster station in the winter of 2019–20. Swapping the familiar red and blue for red, green, black and gold, Achiampong paid tribute to the African diaspora in the capital. He has exhibited twice at Manifesta (2022, 2024) and at the Gwangju (2023) and Liverpool (2020) biennials, and his work is held by the Tate, the British Council and the Government Art Collection.
