Tunis
Lina Lazaar is Vice President of the Kamel Lazaar Foundation, which supports art projects in the Middle East and North Africa. With the foundation she has launched Jaou, a contemporary art festival in Tunis; her other efforts to promote art and culture in the region include co-founding the digital visual culture magazine Ibraaz, of which she is associate editor, and instigating B7L9, the first independent experimental art space in Tunis. In 2011 she curated ‘The Future of a Promise’, the first group exhibition of pan-Arab artists at the Venice Biennale, where she returned in 2017 to curate ‘The Absence of Paths’, the first Tunisian pavilion in almost six decades – and which attracted more than 100,000 visitors.
