In May this year, the Beijing-born art collector and philanthropist announced her latest venture, Yan Du Projects (YDP). The new non-profit space, which opens this month in a Georgian townhouse in Bedford Square, London, will host exhibitions, commissions and residencies, opening up new avenues for Du to continue in her long-standing ambition to promote artists from East Asia and its diaspora on the world stage. In 2019, Du founded the Asymmetry Art Foundation, a non-profit which promotes an understanding Chinese and Sinophone contemporary art through academic scholarships and curatorial fellowships. Asymmetry settled into a permanent location in east London in 2022, which boasts a library and work spaces for curators as well as areas for events and public programmes. Her personal collection includes works by Yayoi Kusama and Georgia O’Keeffe.
