In the 8th and 7th centuries BC, as the Assyrian empire expanded in the Near East and the Phoenicians strung their trading routes across the Mediterranean, culture spread out along the same lines. This exhibition of around 260 objects loaned from 41 museums, points to the incidents of shared influence, artistic assimilation, adaptation and divergence that were to shape artistic traditions in centuries to come.
