Drawing inspiration from folk and street art, as well as from feminist cultural practice, Margaret Kilgallen’s idiosyncratic paintings and prints sought to celebrate marginal figures in American culture. This exhibition is a welcome first posthumous museum survey for the artist, who became a key figure in the Bay Area Mission School art movement but died at the age of 33 in 2001.
