This survey at the Morgan Library, New York (11 February–15 May) follows Holbein from Basel to the court of Henry VIII in England, taking in his portraits of philosophers and courtiers as well as his designs for books, prints and jewellery. Also on display are works by Holbein’s contemporaries Quentin Metsys and Jan Gossaert, offering a broad exploration of life and art during the Northern Renaissance.
