The 2014 Glasgow International was the first with new director Sarah McCrory in charge. Organising the biennial festival of contemporary art is some challenge: this year, it encompassed more than 50 exhibitions across the city, including many curated or commissioned by the director herself. Having made her name with numerous acclaimed independent projects and as the curator of Frieze Foundation – where she was responsible for Frieze Projects East in 2012 – McCrory has an excellent reputation for working closely with artists.
