Chance – Form – Language (and a FRANZWESTigation)
This exhibition of Hans Arp’s sculpture and poetry focuses on his later works, created between 1947–1965. The sculptures, which are loosely and suggestively figurative, build on the artist’s Dada and Surrealist experiments. Excerpts from his poems will be installed on the walls and broadcast through the gallery, while a set of five sculptures by contemporary artist Franz West will also be on display, intended by the curator Julian Heynen to act as ‘visual footnotes’ to the influential modernist’s oeuvre.
